Lydia Courteille may be the go-to French jeweler for all things fantastical and baroque—her rings could rival Queen Victoria’s— but the designer is turning to a more primitive style for spring. Inspired by a trip to Namibia and Kenya, Courteille has created a tribal African collection. “It’s incredible that now the trend in fashion is Africa, because I’ve been working on this idea for two or three years,” she says of her exotic wood, gold, and turquoise pieces, before insisting, “It wasn’t a strategic choice!”
